Concept albums have been around for quite awhile. One of the most entertaining of all attempts to fuse story and dialogue with rock music came from a somewhat unlikely source: Captain Sensible, then best known as bassist for seminal UK punk group The Damned. The Universe of Geoffrey Brown wasn't a massive commercial success, and perhaps it didn't even do well enough in the marketplace to be labeled a cult favorite. But its brilliance deserves recognition.
